Instruction Manual: Generation 10 Focus Confirmation Chip (FC10) InstructionsUpdated 4 months ago

The Generation 10 Focus Confirmation Chip illuminates the center focus point when it senses the subject is in focus. When you get the focus confirmation light in your viewfinder, take a picture. Check the captured image to see if the focus is accurate or needs adjustment. If adjustments are needed please follow the instructions below to enter Programming Mode:

1) In your camera’s custom settings, set the Exposure Level Increments setting to 1/3 stop.

2) Set your camera’s exposure mode to Manual (M).

3) On the camera, set your aperture to f/1.6.

4) Set your shutter speed to 4 seconds.

5) Take an exposure.

6) Your chip is now in Programming Mode until you manually exit the Programming Mode or the chip is disconnected from the camera body. The aperture values and corresponding functions are available to you as follows:

f/1.4When set to f/1.4, you can take pictures to confirm the accuracy of the chip’s focus confirmation. If further adjustments need to be made, use the functions assigned to f/1.6 or f/1.8. Multiple attempts may be required for proper calibration.
f/1.6When set to f/1.6, you can set the chip to focus on subjects that are farther from the camera by taking an exposure.
f/1.8When set to f/1.8, you can  set the chip to focus on subjects closer the camera by taking an exposure.
f/2.0When set to f/2.0, you can reset the chip calibration to default, erasing previous changes, by taking an exposure.
f/2.2When set to f/2.2, you can exit the Programming Mode by pressing your camera’s Depth of Field Preview button.
